ϻThe Sundarbans is the largest mangrove forest in the world. Unrelated but not worth a separate post, and I can't resist pointing it out: the German translation of Ursula K. The next essay in issue 5 is her review of Ursula K. Le Guin's book “The Word for World Is Forest,” and in the review she writes both about the power of language to shape reality, and the limitations of language. The book is called The Word for World is Forest by the well-loved Science Fiction/Fantasy author Ursula Kroeber Le Guin. The name Sundarbans means "beautiful jungle" or "beautiful forest". Among her novels are The Left Hand of Darkness (1969), The Word for World Is Forest (1972), The Dispossessed (1974), and Always Coming Home (1985) and the Earthsea series. Ursula LeGuin first brought this to my attention in The Word for World is Forest, where, like the title says, the Athshean word for world is the same as their word for forest. Ursula Le Guin, probably best known for the Earthsea trilogy, produced her delicate, intellectual novel The Word for World is Forest in 1976.
